Houston Astros 2014 spring schedule posted

The Houston Astros 2014 spring schedule includes 13 games at Osceola County Stadium in Kissimmee, FL, where the Astros will train for their 30th consecutive season. The schedule also includes four exhibition games: two vs. the Texas Rangers in San Antonio for the H-E-B Big League Weekend, and two at Minute Maid Park against the Rojos del Aguila de Veracruz of the Mexican Baseball League.

The Astros will play a total of 31 games this spring, including 27 games in the Grapefruit League. The spring docket opens on Friday, Feb. 28 in nearby Orlando in a matchup with the 2013 National League East Division winners, the Atlanta Braves. That matchup will be one of four against the Braves, who will also visit the Astros for Houston’s Spring Training home opener on Sunday, March 2.

Seven of the Astros 13 games in Kissimmee will fall on weekends, including matchups with the New York Yankees (March 8), the Toronto Blue Jays (March 9), the St. Louis Cardinals (March 14, March 22), the Washington Nationals (March 16) and the Miami Marlins (March 21). The Astros schedule also features weekday home games against the Detroit Tigers (March 5), the New York Mets (March 6, March 26), the Philadelphia Phillies (March 20), the Nationals (March 12) and the Braves (March 17).

The Astros will play one night game in Kissimmee this spring, their final game of Grapefruit League play on March 26 at 6:05 p.m. ET vs. the Mets. All other home games are scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET start times.

Following Grapefruit League action, the Astros will travel to San Antonio for two games against the Texas Rangers in San Antonio’s Alamodome. Those games, which are part of the H-E-B Big League Weekend, are scheduled for Friday, March 28 (7:05 p.m. CT) and Saturday, March 29 (1:05 p.m. CT).
