People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring. -- Rogers Hornsby

Dodgers settle on spring schedule
It's about time: the Los Angeles Dodgers are finally settled on a March schedule. The inability of the Dodgers to come up with a workable schedule caused schedules and ticket sales to be delayed, but it appears there's finally a game plan.

The full Dodgers squad will be in Vero Beach through March 11. At that time manager Joe Torre and a portion of the team will head to China, where the Dodgers will play the San Diego Padres at Wukesong Stadium in Beijing, the home of the Olympic baseball competition, on March 15-16. The team will then travel to Phoenix to pick up the rest of the spring schedule on March 20. Phoenix Municipal Stadium will be open because the Oakland Athletics are heading to Japan for a season-opening series against the Red Sox. (We presume the Dodgers will be training at Papago as well.)

But what Dodgers will be heading to China, and who will be staying in Florida for March 11-18? If you're a Dodgers fan, your best bet for seeing the veterans will be Florida. The Los Angeles Times reports many veteran players hate the idea of traveling to China, and it's very likely the split squad Torre takes on the road will be young, Triple-A level players with a few names thrown in.
