Oakland Athletics 2023 spring training is back in Mesa for spring training after spending many years at Phoenix Municipal Stadium and Papago Park. It’s a homecoming of sorts: the A’s formerly trained at Rendezvous Park. So you can expect plenty of references to A’s history at HoHoKam Stadium, which was renovated for the team’s arrival.
While HoHoKam Stadium was spiffed up for the A’s, there’s a carryover issue: there’s really not much of a surrounding neighborhood at HoHoKam Stadium. There is, of course, the cemetery across the street. But there are other cool areas of Mesa to visit aside from HoHoKam Stadium — downtown is particularly nice — and, of course, you’re not too far from Tempe or Scottsdale. Where to Stay: Any hotel in Mesa proper will work. You can also stay by the airport or in Tempe.
Flying In: The closest airport is Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. It’s served by all the major airlines, including United, Delta, Air Canada, American, and Southwest. It’s a pleasant enough airport.
