Florida adds another exhibition

The Florida Marlins are sure treating their affiliates well: After announcing a game against Double-A affiliate Jacksonville last month, the team announced a second affiliate matchup, this time against the Greensboro Grasshoppers at NewBridge Bank Park.

The exhibition game will be played Saturday, April 3, with the first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. and gates opening at 1 p.m. This is the second big splash from the Marlins; having also played an exhibition game as a start to the 2005 Inaugural Season. “We are thrilled to be able to kick off another exciting season with the Marlins returning to Greensboro,” said Donald Moore, Grasshoppers President and General Manager.

“The Florida Marlins greatly appreciate our partnership with the Greensboro Grasshoppers and are grateful for everything they have done for our players, staff and development process during the past six years. Greensboro is a premier organization in Minor League Baseball, and one we are proud to have as an affiliate,” said Jim Fleming, Marlins VP, Player Development/Scouting/Assistant GM.

Tickets for the exhibition game will go on sale Saturday, February 27 in conjunction with the Grasshoppers annual Tickets On Sale Day. The ticket price will be $10.00 for the seating bowl and $8.00 for lawn. “We are excited to bring our Major League club back to Greensboro next April for another exhibition game and, in the process, showcase several former Grasshoppers currently on the Marlins’ Major League roster,” said Fleming.
