Twins release 2010 spring-training schedule

The Minnesota Twins today announced their 2010 Spring Training schedule, featuring 14 home games at Hammond Stadium and two exhibition games at Target Field in Minneapolis. The 2010 spring campaign marks the 20th season the Twins have trained at the Lee County Sports Complex in Fort Myers, Fla.

Twins pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report on Sunday, Feb. 21, with their first workout slated for Monday, Feb. 22. The balance of the squad is scheduled to report on Friday, Feb. 26, with full-squad workouts beginning on Saturday, Feb. 27.

The Twins’ 2010 Spring Training home opener will take place at Hammond Stadium on Friday, Mar. 5 against the Boston Red Sox with the first pitch slated for 1:05 p.m. ET. Additional highlights of the Twins’ 14-game home Grapefruit League schedule include two additional visits by the Red Sox (March 14 and 23) as well as visits by the World Champion New York Yankees (March 7), and the National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies (March 27).

At the conclusion of Spring Training, the Twins will return to Minnesota to open their new home, Target Field (Minneapolis), with two exhibition games versus the St. Louis Cardinals (April 2 at 5:10 p.m. CT and April 3 at 1:10 p.m. CT).
