Rangers announce 2011 spring-training schedule

The Texas Rangers released a 2011 spring-training schedule with lots of balance as well as trips to two of the team’s affiliates.

You can view the full schedule here.

Texas’ 31-game Arizona schedule features 16 contests at Surprise Stadium/Billy Parker Field. The Rangers will be the home team for 15 of those games and will be the visiting club on Sunday, March 20 against the Kansas City Royals, who share the Surprise complex with Texas. Those two teams will play three times overall in Surprise in 2011, opening the spring schedule with consecutive games on Sunday, February 27 and Monday, February 28, the latter date being the Surprise Sundancers Charity Game.

The Rangers will close the 2011 spring training slate with exhibition games in the home parks of the team’s two new minor league affiliates. Texas will play Coastal Carolina University at BB&T Coastal Field, home of the class A Myrtle Beach Pelicans, on Tuesday, March 29 at 6:35 p.m. EDT. (Rangers co-owner Chuck Greenberg also owns the Pelicans.) The club’s spring finale will be on Wednesday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m. CDT versus the class AAA Round Rock Express at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock. (Rangers co-owner Nolan Ryan also owns the Express.)

Tickets go on sale Jan. 8.
