Some good news related to spring training 2025: The Scottsdale Charros, the nonprofit part of the team bringing you San Francisco Giants games in Arizona, reports $1.4 million donated to charities due to fan spending at Scottsdale Stadium.
While spring training attendance hasn’t yet reached pre-COVID levels, the crowds at Scottsdale Stadium came close, with 179,334 fans attending 17 Giants games (which included two games at Oracle Park and Sacramento) and almost 140,000 fans attending 15 games at Scottsdale Stadium. These represent the highest totals since 2019.
That success allowed the Scottsdale Charros, which runs gameday operations at Scottsdale Stadium, contribute nearly $1.4 million to organizations and initiatives to Scottsdale organizations via the Charro Foundation, including 100 Club of Arizona, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale, Family Promise, Scottsdale Arts and Scottsdale Community Partners.
“The Scottsdale Charros have maintained a 63-year partnership with the City of Scottsdale at Scottsdale Stadium,” said Charros Executive Director Dennis Robbins. “This helps the Charros raise essential funds for local charities and public education. Additionally, our collaboration with the San Francisco Giants enhances our capacity to direct resources to where they are most needed. We are proud to continue serving our community through the wonderful game of baseball.”
While attendance was down slightly across baseball in spring training 2025, the Charros say Scottsdale Stadium bucked the trend via ballpark improvements, including a new shaded patio area and expanded trees (and shade) across the outfield lawn. These were the latest improvements to Scottsdale Stadium–a process beginning in 2019.
“We are thrilled with how the new enhancements elevated the fan experience,” said Judy Doyle, Scottsdale’s senior director of enterprise operations, via press release. “These upgrades were designed to improve functionality and comfort—and we’re seeing that they’ve done exactly that.”
“The San Francisco Giants deeply value our decades-long relationship with the city of Scottsdale and the Scottsdale Charros, who have built the foundation that has allowed all of us to deliver a world-class Spring Training baseball experience to the Scottsdale community,” said Sara Grauf, senior vice president of experience development for the San Francisco Giants, via press release.
“We are committed to continuing that tradition by providing fans with an unforgettable experience and enhancing Scottsdale Stadium through ongoing improvements that make it an even greater place to enjoy Giants baseball.”
