The Hammond Stadium boardwalk will be closed during spring training 2022, as problems with the structure is causing Lee County to limit access while repairs are made.
The issues date back to when the spring-training home of the Minnesota Twins was updated in 2015 at the end of a two-year process that, among other things, added a new boardwalk between the foul poles. That boardwalk area, which also includes some nice outfield seating (as shown above), was closed after Lee County inspectors found issues both at Hammond Stadium and JetBlue Park, spring home of the Boston Red Sox. Construction manager Manhattan Construction has already agreed to make repairs on cracked and crumbling concrete.
In the meantime, the Boardwalk will be closed this spring until repairs are completed.
