The Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago White Sox added a March 7 spring-training game at Tucson’s Kino Stadium (formerly Tucson Electric Park) as a fundraiser for the Christina-Taylor Green Memorial Fund.
Green was a young victim of the shootings that rocked Tucson last month. The Christina-Taylor Green Memorial Fund was established at the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona by the Green family to receive gifts in memory of Christina-Taylor. The proceeds are supporting Tucson youth in her name. “Our family has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love for our sweet Christina. This charitable fund will ensure her legacy for the children in our community,” said John Green, Christina’s father and a MLB scout; her grandfather is former Phillies manager Dallas Green.
The game is slated for 1:05 p.m., with gates opening at 11 a.m.. Pima County, the Chicago White Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks, the Tucson Padres, and the Pima County Sports and Tourism Authority have committed the charity game proceeds to the memorial fund in remembrance of Christina-Taylor.
