New Spring Training Hotels on Tap for 2020

Major League BaseballA slew of new spring training hotels are coming online near facilities in Arizona and Florida, providing additional options for those fans traveling to spring training 2020.

In Florida, Astros Owner Jim Crane is part of a group that’s opened a new Hilton Garden Inn West Palm Beach at the Outlets, located five miles from the team’s spring-training home, FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.

“With West Palm Beach as the Spring Training home for the Astros, we are excited to grow and support the Greater West Palm Beach community by providing another first-class operation,“ Crane said in a press release. “We look forward to hosting Astros fans and their families at the new Hilton Garden Inn for many years to come.”

Throughout the hotel are hints of blue and orange, the Astros colors, as well as baseball themed artwork.

In Arizona, two new hotels are opening next to Salt River Field at Talking Stick, spring home of the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies. Both are suites hotels and family-oriented. The more noteworthy: the Great Wolf Lodge. The Wisconsin-based resort owner specializes in facilities anchored by a large water park, with access limited to only those staying at the hotel. The rooms are big. It’s within a close walk of the ballpark.

On the other side of the valley is two new hotels near Goodyear Ballpark; Tru by Hilton and Springhill Suites by Marriott, located at Interstate 10 and Bullard Avenue. They’re pretty much the opposite in every way: Tru is a chain aimed toward millennials with small rooms and pool tables in the lobby. The Springhill Suites, of course, is a suites hotel aimed toward longer-term stays. Both are set to open in spring 2020; we’ll see if they are ready for spring training. There should be plenty of more rooms opening in 2020: an upcoming 2023 Super Bowl at State Farm Stadium had a condition of more rooms in the West Valley.

We’ll have more news and information about these new hotels in the Compete Guide to Spring Training 2020 / Florida and Compete Guide to Spring Training 2020 / Arizona, which we’re working on now for a late August release date.
